Here are some photo’s from last weeks trip to Røst and Skomvær. The main purpose of the trip was to assist Elin Vister with spatial mixing of her sound installation “Røster III”, soon to be presented at Ultima in Oslo.
I have assisted her on previous versions of this work, presented at Tromsø kunstforening, NOTAM and at Bergen kunsthall as part of the master exhibition 2014. Visiting Røst, Skomvær and passing by many of the places that she’s recorded, made this session a very special one for me.

Listening to Elin’s sound installation “Røster III” late at night Friday.
In the midst of the mixing process there’s a tendency of having my head stuck in all sorts of details – voice handling, minor and larger mixing decisions (levels, localisation, transitions). Being able to hear all of the work at the end of the Friday session,, at this location, so close to where it has been recorded, was quite a transcending experience. And the boat trip back in to Røst the next day, with Elin enthusiastically pointing out all the places that the various recordings originates from, will be one of the most profound experiences I’ve had this year.
