Out into real space but not quite

Alexander is blogging today about Dutch company Softkinetic that offers what they call “natural interfaces” i.e. interfaces where you don’t have to put on any sensors to interact.

Looking at their media files meant to demonstrate the technology I’m fascinated by the possibilities that resembles what my kids do when playing EyeToy a Playstation game. But I also find the limitations interesting: The technology appears to make gaming physical taking it out into real space. In reality space is only activated along a beam originating at the camera and it remains completely frontal and two-dimensional. This is modern man walking like an Egyptian.
